You can reference data by 'absolute or relative path to file'#Sheet3.A1:Sheet3.B5 or if you want project a bigger external area to an area with the same size use array formulas in combination with external references. With Libreoffice 3.5 you are even able to create external references to unsaved files and the references are adjusted the first time the referenced file is saved. Then there is as you correctly mention also the link feature. For this feature you need to create a range name in the linked document that refers to the area you want to link. So, according to this, you can use the below reference format to create an external reference to an open workbook: workbook_name#$sheet_name.firstcell:lastcell MainProject.ods#$'Project Plan'.A1:A3 For example, if you want to sum the above range A1:A3, you can use the below formula: =SUM(MainProject.ods#$'Project Plan'.A1:A3) Examples and Usage Notes Always use the full path of the *.ods Calc files in your reference formula. For Linux based systems, use below formula as shown in the example: ='file:///home/arindam/price.ods'#$'fruit price'.B2 For Windows, use below formula as shown in the example: ='file:///D:/price.ods'#$'fruit price'.B2 If your file name or sheet name having special character such as space, you should enclose the formula in the single quote (‘) as below: When you refer to an external workbook, Calc always uses absolute reference. To reproduce problem: 1. From a normally opened libreoffice calc spreadsheet document, go to full screen (CTRL-ALT-J). 2. Save and close the file. 3. Re-open the file. 4. Opens in maximized window with no minimize or resize buttons, only a close button in title bar; no desktop panel. 5. Can go to full screen and out of full screen (CTRL-ALT-J), but problem persists. 6. Only affects files thus handled, i.e., made full screen and then closed. 7. Other libreoffice files open normally. This problem has recently occurred in both Mint 10 and Mint 12 (main editions, both). Mint 12 is running the beautiful Cinnamon DE. Found the answer at http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/ ... =5&t=46263 1. Close all libreoffice files. 2. Go to home folder .libreoffice/3/user (was /home/bill/.config/libreoffice/4/user) 3. It makes Linux systems (maybe only when working with KDE) crash in the most catastrophic way. First the screen gets blocked, you are not able to do anything, but moving the mouse cursor (interestingly this keeps working). After a few seconds, the screen goes to black and the system halts without any care for anything. I’ve gone through many forums. Changing memory assignation does not help. The failure tends to happen with non-trivial documents, independently of the size (seems more often with long documents, though). May be some relation with mark, copy, paste operations, but this is not sure either. Somebody reported that they had to go to an older version of LibreOffice and the trouble dissapears, I am considering this possibility. There is a solution at https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=22548: Run LibreOffice headless to call a macro. The command line call should not specify the document to open, just a macro. For example (using the newer macro syntax): soffice -headless -invisible "vnd.sun.star.script:Standard.Module1.MySubroutine? language=Basic&location=application" The macro calls loadComponentFromUrl with the Hidden property set to true. This will cause the document to not become visible. Now the macro performs whatever it was going to do with the document. EDIT: To make it work for different files, pass the filename as a parameter using the older macro syntax. An example from https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=8232: soffice "macro:///Library3.Module1.test_Args(arg1,123,4.567,2000-12-31)" shareimprove this answer edited Oct 19 '16 at 3:18 answered Oct 18 '16 at 13:03, Jim K ************************* #] 30Dec2017 I need Courrier 10 font! https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/43914/where-do-i-download-libre-font-sets-i-dont-see-a-link-on-librecom/ LibO comes with big package of fonts. You can look in the internet for additional fonts. Here are a few links: http://www.openfontlibrary.org/ http://www.fontspace.com/category/open http://designbeep.com/2012/07/07/20-f... This link can assist you in identifying fonts: http://www.identifont.com/similar?2D8 Installation must be done according to your OS. LibreOffice links to you fonts automatically. link Comments To add, I've found usable fonts at http://www.dafont.com/ and http://www.fontsquirrel.com , but finding free fonts seems to be really easy on Google even for me. Companies and other similar things need to be sure to look for commercially-usable fonts so there won't be problems. Many are, at least on Dafont. rautamiekka gravatar imagerautamiekka ( Dec 21 '14 ) @rautemiekka - Thanks for the additional links.which contain also interesting fonts. If your Google is completely in either American or British English including results (well, mine is meant to return Finnish too, but mostly it doesn't), you can put free fonts to get a rather long list of sites offering free fonts. rautamiekka gravatar imagerautamiekka ( Dec 21 '14 ) >> Rather than install Courrier 10 pitch, I used already-installed DejaVu Sans Mono. **************** #] 29Aug2016 Exporting slides to .png files search "libreoffice impress export slides as images" Solution: Menu -> Files -> Export -> specify filename, directory, UNCLICK retain transparency https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/24507/how-do-i-export-all-slides-as-images-in-impress/ oweng, answered Oct 27 '13 Apart from the extension linked to there is no elegant method of doing this, however there is a workaround that may suffice: Export to HTML. File > Export... > select the File Type of "HTML Document (Impress)"; click Save. This will start the HTML Export wizard. Click through the default settings on most of the dialogs, with the exception of the third, which offers a choice of graphics format (PNG, GIF, JPG) and resolution (640x480, 800x600, 1024x768). Click Create once you get to the end, or at any time. The chosen settings can be saved as a Design for future use. The result will be a series of imgN.html and corresponding imgN.png (if PNG was selected) files, one per slide. The HTML files can be deleted if not required. http://extensions.libreoffice.org/extension-center/export-as-images Export As Images 0.9.3 Released Apr 03, 2016 — tested with LibreOffice 5.1 This extension lets you export all the Impress slides or Draw pages as images of JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP and TIFF format. **************** #] 30Jun2016 Icons in spreadsheet I found out how to get rid of this before - but can't find my notes ***************** #] 04Apr2016 LibreCalc - password no longer protects Save As -> check "Save with password" ********************** #] 22Mar2016 Copy/Paste doesn't include tabs ?!!?? Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Page orientation is a property of page styles - so if all your pages have the same page style they will all have the same orientation. If you change it, the change will apply to all pages. Perhaps all your pages have the Default (portrait) page style. There is a built-in Landscape page style which has the other orientation and may suit your purpose. o Put the cursor at the end of the last portrait page. o Go to Insert | Manual Break... . o Under Type, select "Page break". o Under Style, select Landscape from the drop-down list. o Now put the cursor at the end of the single landscape page. o Go to Insert | Manual Break... . o Under Type, select "Page break". o Under Style, select Default from the drop-down list. Each page break is associated with a change in page style: from Default to Landscape and back again. If these built-in page styles do not suffice, you can modify them or even create your own, of course. I trust this helps. Brian Barker And make sure not to use keyboard shortcut +. This will not give you options descbribed above. cK ********************** #] 17Mar2014 To remove button etc from LibreWriter ???
