Village of Hussar Unsightly Premises Questionnaire Questions Please answer the following questions by checking either the “yes” or “no” column. A space is available at the end of each section for additional comments. Unregistered Vehicles NO Residents should not be able to park any unregistered vehicles on their property (front or back yard). YES Residents should be able to park one unregistered vehicle on their property (front or back yard). NO Residents should be able to park as many unregistered vehicles on their property as they want (front or back yard). NO Only one unregistered vehicle may be parked in the front of a home, but more may be parked in the back yard (regardless of fencing). NO If a back yard has a fence, residents may have as many unregistered vehicles as they wish in the back yard. NO Vehicles that are covered with a tarp should not be included in the above. Additional Comments _____________________________________________________________________________________ Residents should be able to park ONLY ONE unregistered vehicle on their property (back yard ONLY, preferably out of view). _____________________________________________________________________________________ With zoning, people would be able to place cars on lots set aside for that purpose (at their cost to buy or rent the property), perhaps even a communal lot. _____________________________________________________________________________________ It seems to me that there are "normal expectations" for residential properties, depending on the [city, town]. As alsways, it would help to see the bylaws elsewhere as benchmarks, for ideas, and to know what cannot be demanded in bylaws. _____________________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________________________ Buildings YES Homes and other buildings should be kept painted, without broken windows/doors, and should not be missing siding, shingles, eaves, etc. YES Openings in buildings, including sheds, garages, and into basements, should be screened to keep animals out. Page 2 of 4 Village of Hussar Unsightly Premises Questionnaire Additional Comments _____________________________________________________________________________________ I'm afraid of over-strict applcation of this - eg old shingles. But it's fair to neighbors that everyone keep a minimum standard. I assume that foxes etc are part of the problem here. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Yards YES Properties should not have an accumulation of any scrap, litter, trash, garbage, or waste of any kind. YES Properties should not have broken appliances, furniture, etc. YES Properties should not have an accumulation of construction or building materials, unless being currently used on the premises and doesn’t blow onto other properties. NO If a backyard is fenced properly the above items no longer apply. YES Yards should drain to avoid standing pools of water, and should not drain onto neighbouring properties. Additional Comments _____________________________________________________________________________________ Hard to drain without affecting neighboring properties, although many properties are on slope towards road or back alley? It is assumed that all items above apply to material OUTSIDE of the [house, garage, etc]. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Page 3 of 4 Village of Hussar Unsightly Premises Questionnaire Other Comments _____________________________________________________________________________________ I wonder if any of this is really enforceable? _____________________________________________________________________________________ Page 4 of 4
