Hi Bill,

I use the following tools:

1. *Wordpress*: You can deploy Wordpress in two ways, either on
Wordpress.com (with limited functionality), or on your own server,
with a full set of functionalities (e.g. custom themes, plugins,
etc.). The statistics on Wordpress.com are fantastic, and you can
obtain an identical set of functionalities on an hosted Wordpress by
installing the Jetpack plugin.
2. *Facebook*: I use the Facebook statistics page, which is reachable
from the "Insights" page. I don't know if this available also for
events (such as the IJCNN page).
3. *Twitter*: You can obtain a lot of stastitics from
https://analytics.twitter.com/ (which is not directly linked on the
main website, at least, I didn't found it).
4. *Google*+: You have a limited set of statistics from the page
itself, otherwise, you can link the page to the Google Analytics
service. However, it is quite complicated to use, so I tend to avoid
it for simple matters such as computing the number of visualizations
per day.

There are several external services for obtaining advanced statistics
(particularly on Twitter), however, I tend not to trust them completely.
Some of them are quite intriguing, for example common interests of your
followers or similar things.

Cheers,
Simone

Wow!  Thanks, Simone.
You've done a great job of the interview.  I'm especially
surprised at the Google+ figure, which is probably saying
something.  I usually check the Facebook page and the WordPress
page, and don't follow the others as much.

At some time I'd like to know how you track down all those
stats, which I have not worked through yet.

Dear all,

I am happy to share with you some statistics on the visibility
of the interview:

  1. In less than one week, we had roughly 2000 visits, with
more than 440 click towards Prof. Schmidhuber's website.

  2. The interview has been reshared 140 times on Facebook from
    the blog alone.

  3. On Google+, the post with the interview achieved more than
    8000 visualizations.

There are also some interesting comments from Bill Howell and
from Andrew Morris. Given the amount of downloads of my last
research article, I am starting to question my life choices
(joke!). Also, I am looking forward to Prof. Schmidhuber's AMA
on Reddit.

Sorry for the additional email, but I thought this could be
of interest to you.

Cheers,

Simone Scardapane
