Steve: I looked again at the Hindu calendar, seeking much lower time-length cycles, as well as the precessional cycle. Very interesting, and I think I missed some points the first time around.
Luckily one or two bloggers provided a bit of support for my suspicions, and I will simply assume a nested Hindu 'fractal" cycle series:
- with set proportions among sub-cycles (as per Gita religious text) :
- [Gold, Silver, Bronze, Wood]
- ~24-26ky precessional cycle: STUNNING support for my expectations! Hardly anyone mentions this. If they do they don't understand what it means?
- normal "Yuga cycle" = 360 * length of precessional cycle
- Hindu long calendar =360* Hindu short calendar (eg 360 human years = 1 divine (?Brahma?) year)
- My reading about calendars in thunderbolts area 15+ years ago had brought up the issue of periods during which ancient calendars may all have had 360 days/year exactly (not ~365.25), and 30 days/month exactly (not ~30.43 days/month)
- The 360 factor was even mentioned as making cycles much more accurate and divisible by integers (I had seen this comment before)
- Did some goof-ball multiply by 360, and say that the much longer cycle must exist because it is more easily divisible? It's actually a good idea, but then he (his descendants) forgot to re-correct back to reality (or couldn't because they couldn't understand the "correction" to begin with?). This is just like modern non-self-correcting errors: [General Relativity, Quantum Mechanics, ...]?
- I missed this point the first time around, and it may hint at a nested cycle series, as I had suspected, and as you have found with the Bible (factor of seven etc).
- [higher, lower, intermediate] geometric series, for which a couple of [alternative, version]s are:
- factor-of-three geometric progression, like Puetz's "Universal Wave Series" (UWS) : This has the best data support of any meta-cycle concept that I know of, including the cycle lengths, error bars, and minimum number of same-cycles to establish that a cycle belongs to the Puetz UWS.
- factor of seven Torah prime number (which almost pops out with the Hindu yugas): This has intrigued me since you emphasized the number's role in the Torah. "Multiple Conflicting Hypothesis" encourages its retention for consideration. There are even questions about whether the Torah has the precessional cycle.
- maybe even look at VERY long Hindu cycles (eg 100 trillion years?) that some have suggested?
- each with the same breakdown into OR[4, 8] sub-cycles :
This could lead to an interesting comparison to [my, Dad]'s breakdown of history at a sub-precessional time frame.
This area is drowning in analysis by people who may have nothing to add but [confusion, fashionable mindless verbiage], and maybe they have continuously added that for thousands of years. Is this perhaps worse in the last couple of millennia than any time before? ... much worse with high levels of education? I sense that in my own [miss, shortcoming, blindness].
A particularly relevant webPage is Cycles of ~12,000 Years in Vedic, Mayan, and Torah Traditions. Very reminiscent of Ben Davidson's Earth catastrophe series!!
Next: on to [Chinese, Egyptian, Jewish, Mayan, Puetz, Siksika/ Stonehenge] calendars, but I will mostly be working on house insulation etc for this week.
