I think that TradingView was too restrictive for the things you need to do, and the ways that you need to do them. too long, couldn't post : I've subscribed to Silver, as I am interested in your news analysis as a potential comparison to Large Language Models (which you may or may not be using) at least over the next 6 months. Quick comment : I can't remember if I gave the sign-on process my own passwork, but I couldn't simply submit it (plus my email address) as a first logon "forgotton password) request simply got stuck at "https://kovach.tech/reset-request.php" (no response after perhaps 5-10 minutes) I'm not actively investing at this time, and will be spending far less time following markets as I ramp up work on my major "retirement science research projects". My current "mini-project" is related to Transformer Neural Networks (TrNNs), Large Language Models (LLMs), but LLMs are in the "opposite direction" from the direction that interests me (since late 1990's / early 2000's). That includes real economic growth, net exports, foreign investment, etc, but I have the suspicion that ongoing deficit spending is a key reason, in spite of rhetoric to the contrary. [Howell: MW addition *** I also wonder if people have found a way to "electronically print money" outside of the official [fiat bank loan leveraging, US [Treasury, Federal Reserve]] systems ***]. Nobody wants to be seen to cut spending and hurt people. It's like repeatedly through history: David Fischer 1996 "The Great Wave, Price revolutions and the rhythm of history" Ray Dalio 2021 "Principles for dealing with the Changing World Order" Presumably, you will be taxed on the basis of greatly inflated nominal [capital gains, earnings] even if real returns are negative. But that can take a very long time. Strangely, mathematician Alfredo Pareto, and later Benoit Mandelbrot, also came to another similarly strange conclusion that independent of the type of system, the wealth distribution in societies is always the same. I'm not that technical as you are so it's really difficult for me to understand it. So if I understand it correctly you are applying time fractals and Puetz fractals onto the s&P500 to determine those levels? But those levels as you zoom in and out keep moving with the chart axis so it's not accurate anymore. It needs to be fixed in place so I can see price interaction at such levels. Maybe when you get some time you can fix that issue with the current script please. Thank you Bill! @Tiestobob (Part 1) - Your good questions are helping me, maybe more than my answers are helping you. The problem is that I am not clear and full in my descriptions, but to include too much can cloud concepts too. You will not see "zooming" on the fixed image that the link shows, because the timeframe is fixed. The images generated by QNisal are all fixed (much easier for me to do. Trading View graphs that incorporate PineScript do zoom. On a much earlier TV chart (19Jun2022 in the early stages still of development), you can perhaps see that with SPX as the only indicator: https://www.tradingview.com/script/xMrv9RMv-PuetzUWS-time-price-multiFractal-mirrors-SPX-1872-2020/ @Tiestobob (Part 2) - Copy-paste the Pinscript code to your own graph setup that has the SPX indicator. Add the script (basic instructions of PineScript cover that). Set the timeframe to perhaps 6 months, then to 5 years or so. My older charts had problems drawijng all [time, price] fractals, and there is still a bit of a problem. However, if you go to short timeframes the [min, max] range is much smaller than for large timeframes. The vertical, horizontal] lines are supposed to adjust, adapting to the [min, max] for each timeframe (again, I can't remember if my earlier graphs do that). That way, fractal levels shown zoom [in, out]. @Tiestobob (Part 3) - Again, observe how well the fractal levels acta as normal [turn, hold]ing points. In other words, do they help explain the index as classical Fibonacci fractals might (which are often used. If this doesn't make sense, then the problem is my explanations. Anyways, I'm already travelling, and have to sign off for the next 3 weeks minumum, plus catch-up time when I return. 08********08 #] 21Jan2023 @Tiestobob - How do you determine what is different now vs what is normal? @Tiestobob (Part 1) - Great question without a strong answer until experience is gained over decades of data covering different market conditions. It simple to start, as the [normalized, detrended] indicator will behave "differently" as it diverges from its "normal" variances from SP500, as per : http://www.billhowell.ca/economics,%20markets/market%20data/detrend/220802/detrend%20StockMkt%20Indices%201871-2022%20PuetzUWS2011.png @Tiestobob (Part 2) Note that the graph above only partially detrends indices with respect to SP500, with periods of a few years of stronger divergences (eg red curve is probably DAX40, which has a yellow legend. The legend has wrong colors unfortunately). This is possibly skewed on the current graph, as the starting years for most indices are too recent (should go back decades earlier, but the data I used is limited). @Tiestobob (Part 3) - Also notice that the SP500 fractal pricing becomes closer to a standard reference for other indices, just as with Fibonacci levels (very similar). Time fractals (vertical lines) are "frozen" in my initial work, but use Stephen Puetz's pereiodicities (I forget from which of his references). One of the most interestingTradingView Traders that I know of for [price, time] fractal interpretations is @fract. Also a haunting astronomy time analysis is provided by several, espectially @EsotericTrading. 08********08 #] 19Jan2023 @Tiestobob - [time, price] multifractals for multi-[stock, mixed, exchange rate]s @Tiestobob - (Part 1) I was searching an escape from a peer review of math theorems, and these missing pieces came to mind. Things are even more spread out than I indicated. Note - getting the [data, plot] directories from a link below : the links show a file, remove the filename to see the full directory. I haven't done any [time, price] multifractals for multi-exchange rates, but your focus on short time periods would mean a lot of weekly or something determinations of trends for each exchange rate. My currency models include interest rates (national versus US), some include USOIL price variances, and I think other factors were being looked at as well (from established models). As with all "normalised" chsarts, the idea is to pick out what is different NOW as compared to what is normal. 08********08 #] 12Nov2022 blogrep TV Teodros09 - Hello see "Status of Howell's PineScript library" in "$d_web"'economics, markets/TradingView notes.txt' 08********08 #] 23Oct2022 Use images in charts >> awesome, it worked with my : "$d_mkts"'market data/detrend/220802/detrend StockMkt Indices 1871-2022 PuetzUWS2011.png' 08******08 #] 11Aug2022 "PuetzUWS IntlStkIdxs multi-fractals" - add indicators DAX40, INDIA50, NI225, SPX500Lo, SPX500Hi, TNX, UKX100 also must download data to calc regression parameters download symbol data - see section above "Procedures" did TNX 10yr T-bond 12Aug2022 now download : all of 12Aug2022 list (TradingView data at "All" timescale) OK CME:CUS2! housing price futures OK FRED:WLFN - Federal Reserve, Liabilities and Capital OK GOLD long term price OK HSSSHSC300 China Shanghai-Shenzen-Hong Kong stkIdx n/a SHCOMP is no longer available live via TradingView OK USOIL special case - pull SHCOMP from downloads of a year or two ago (no longer available) "$d_web"'economics, markets/SP500/TradingView export - international indexes, closing prices, 1 month averages.ods' copy file -> 'rawCsv SHCOMP 2002-Aug2022 TradingView.csv' remove irrelevant columns move to d_mkts (add to [.bashrc, 'QNial setup.ndf']) - done save as csv 'rawCsv SHCOMP 2002-Aug2022 TradingView.txt' stupid commas in numbers for thousands - need to remove resave csv without thousands separator will have to adjust yrStrt after regression to see ealiest date ... add new symbols to : paramTbl of "$d_Qndfs"'economics, markets/stock index header.ndf' done do regressions via "$d_Qmkts"'stock index semi-log [regression, plot]s.ndf' revampONEregressPlot 'CUS2 May2006-Aug2022' revampONEregressPlot 'GOLD Jan1834-Aug2022 TradingView' revampONEregressPlot 'HSSSHSC300 Sep2020-Aug2022 TradingView' revampONEregressPlot 'SHCOMP Jan1970-Jul2022 TradingView' revampONEregressPlot 'TNX 1963-Aug2022 TradingView' revampONEregressPlot 'USOIL Dec1861-Aug2022 TradingView' qnial> revampONEregressPlot 'CUS2 May2006-Aug2022' oops : "/home/bill/SG6/web/economics, markets/SP500/PuetzUWS intnl stocks/semi-log CUS2 May2006-Aug2022.plt", line 0: Cannot open script file '/home/bill/SG6/web/economics, markets/SP500/PuetzUWS intnl stocks/semi-log CUS2 May2006-Aug2022 but 'semi-log CUS2 May2006-Aug2022 regression fit.txt' >> doesn't work at all!! >> saves file in wrong dir I need to work on fixing upgrades to "$d_Qmkts" coding see future ToDos : take regression parameters from semi-log files and change those in "$d_Qmkts"'economics, markets/stock index header.ndf' fix 'PuetzUWS IntlStkIdxs multi-fractals (version 2).txt' 08********08 #] 10Aug2022 Interest rates - trading advice; Tricks for Reading the VIX https://www.tradingview.com/chart/US10Y/MTfeZ9jT-How-to-improve-your-trading-by-looking-at-interest-rates-Part-1/ How to improve your trading by looking at interest rates: Part 1 US Government Bonds 10 YR Yield (TVC:US10Y) 2.737 −0.046 −1.65% TradingView Aug 8 pretty basic, but great for me +-----+ https://www.tradingview.com/chart/SPX/uJoRkDWc-Tricks-for-Reading-the-VIX/ Tricks for Reading the VIX S&P 500 Index (SP:SPX) 4205.82 83.34 2.02% Burning-Theta, Aug 5 see : "$d_web"'economics, markets/VIX tricks for reading, Burning-Theta.txt' 08********08 #] 12Jun2022 GammaLab [options, futures, gamma] - awesome explanation https://www.tradingview.com/chart/SPX/fUt0iBnm-Gamma-Explainer/ https://www.tradingview.com/u/ecramer/ 80 year trend line - like me! 08********08 #] 11Jun2022 change the "base symbol" of a chart - didn't resolve yet 08********08 #] 04Jun2022 Deus comparison with Andrey Tsvetkov https://t.me/traderevolution I don't [have, want] telegram, but can follow Deus https://www.tradingview.com/chart/RI1!/D4SU0wlj-RTS-an-educational-chart/ RTS - an educational chart RTS Index Futures (MOEX:RI1!) 117770 1020 0.87% Deus It is interesting how the same Elliott Wave technique can result in diametrically opposite views. I almost never watch anybody else's charts. I find it distracting and almost ... useless. With the exception of https://t.me/traderevolution by Andrey Tsvetkov. It happened that I kept it among my Telegram news channels as I like how steady this guy is. He records videos every week sharing his views with detailed explanations. Despite my respect for his knowledge and for his efforts I almost never agree with the guy. And today I felt that I want to start capturing differences in view and test whose EW technique wins. If I am wrong when the guy is right - I will use it to correct my biases. If I am right most of the time - I will increase my confidence for future trades. Probably I could backtest my and his ideas to get an instant result - but it just takes too much time. So, let's see the first example. Denis technique - grey labels. I have been bearish on the Russian Market and on the ruble . Last week the market traced a couple of impulse waves down that I now label as ABC in W and then ended the week with a thrust up grilling my shorts. Today I sit in front of the screen and I still refuse to give up the bearish case. When I look at Moving Averages I feel with the back of my skull that the market is bearish and most probably is forming complex nested waves that ultimately will take shape of an ending diagonal . Andrey Technique - orange labels. Andrey's projection (orange) has been that this is one big impulse wave in the making. I do not like the way he labelled wave 1 - a leading diagonal but technically looks acceptable. I do not like wave 3 - it does not look right. But certainly what is happening now resembles a triangle as wave 4 in the making. 08********08 #] 19May2022 SP500 anchored notes : SP500 1926-2020 semi-log trend = 10^(0.792392+2.89587*10^(-2)*(year - 1926.25)) price revolution* (~7%/y) SP500 1872-1926 semi-log trend = 10^(0.784617+1.40925*10^(-4)*(year - 1871.08)) price equilibrium* (~0.03%/y) *David Fischer 1996 "The Great Wave, Price revolutions and the rhythm of history" SP500 15Apr-06Sep2021: semilog trend = 10^(3.5018 + 0.0940601*(year - 2020.02)) Fibbonacci(0.0) ~upper bound, effective rate ~= ((10 power semiLog_slope) -1) : 24%/year this mis-adjusts somewhat as time progresses from ~06Jan2022 SP500 1926-2020 semi-log trend (thick navy blue, ~7%/y) gray lines above trend : (1 + fib*stdDev/2) * fib0000_base gray lines below trend : (1 - fib*stdDev/2) * fib0000_base where fib = [ 0.382, 0.618, 0.786, 1.000, 1.272 ] stdDev = 0.4308 (for entire 1926-2020 period!) 08********08 #] 04May2022 Pinescript matrices https://www.tradingview.com/pine-script-reference/v5/#fun_matrix%7Bdot%7Dconcat look in menu of chart for "New features" or something.
