Try This Media Team | Modified: 2019-12-31T09:56:11+00:00 How to Fix Thunderbird Not Downloading New Messages Issue? If your Mozilla Thunderbird application is having corruption, fragmentation or any other issue then, it is quite common that it will not download your emails. Well, it can happen in any case so no matter which protocol you are using POP or IMAP. Therefore, you need to force Thunderbird to download all messages and below are the guidelines for same. Case 1: If Your Thunderbird Account is POP3 Global searching/ indexing is the global database that utilizes global-messages-db.sqlite as the search index. This file contains a copy of all messages of the user’s Thunderbird account. It replicates emails from the MBOX files generated by synchronization. Sometimes this file gets corrupted due to which Thunderbird becomes unable to download all messages and Thunderbird not downloading new emails issue occurs. To resolve this issue: Quit Thunderbird application Find global-messages-db.sqlite file in your Thunderbird Profile >> /home/bill/Thunderbird/n4caryuo.default/global-messages-db.sqlite This is 1.1 Gb in size! Delete global-messages-db.sqlite file from your local machine to force Thunderbird to download all messages POP3 >> I save to /home/bill/Thunderbird/n4caryuo.default/Howell - globa-messages-db.sqlite 29Jan2021 Now, restart the Thunderbird and re-indexing process will begin automatically >> It works!!!! Note: The total time taken by application in re-indexing, depends on the number of emails. Sometimes it might take a few minutes to complete the indexing procedure. While the re-indexing process is going on, users can use the Thunderbird however, it may respond slow at that time. The indexing status can be monitored via the Tools >> Activity Manager After that, the Mozilla Thunderbird will download all email messages and synchronize them with your MBOX files. So, this is how Thunderbird not downloading new messages issue can be fixed. 08********08 24Jan2021 search "thunderbird email and maximum size of Local Folders?" >> Howell : this should NOT be a problem, except maybe messages > 4 Gb! +-----+ http://kb.mozillazine.org/Limits_-_Thunderbird Accounts There is no known limit of the number of accounts you can have. If you run into one, it probably would be either a bug in how many accounts the folder pane can display or due to "Use Global Inbox" being checked for that account. One user is using 150 accounts with Thunderbird 24.0. [1] Address books There is no known limit on the number of address books you can have or the number of addresses in an address book. However, for large numbers of contacts at some point you should consider putting your contacts in an LDAP server instead. (One user has 30,000 addresses spread across 63 address books. [2]. Another has 90,000 addresses in one address book and the address book has become so slow it is unusable. [3]) Open files A file descriptor/file handle is a data structure used to access a file via operating system functions. Supposedly there is a hard coded limit in Thunderbird of 256 file descriptors under Solaris. On Linux, the OS limit of open files is around 1024 by default. For folders backed by mbox storage, opening a folder means opening the file containing the message data. If you open too many different folders you'll run into that limit, even if you closed most of the folders (there is a cache keeping old folders open for a while). Once the limit is reached, this may cause a "Unable to load address book" or a "Unable to open summary file error" messages. [5][6] [7] Folders and messages The number of messages in a folder is limited to 4 billion (2^32 in a 32bit counter)[8]. The maximum size of a single message is currently also limited to 4GB. Folder space/size limits depend on whether you are using mbox or maildir storage format. Messages are stored by default as mbox where messages of a folder are stored in one file. A folder needs to be periodically compacted to remove deleted messages and reduce the size of the folder file. Bugs The support for folders larger than 4GB appears to be broken in recent versions (such as 16.0.2). [14]. There has been a lot of confusion over how wide spread the problem is, and there are no tests for it in the Moztrap test case management software (it replaced Litmus, which didn't test it either). There has also been confusion due to a bug (now fixed) that caused repeated downloading of messages for a offline folder in a IMAP account due to changes in how Thunderbird determined the real message size. [15] +-----+ https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1065602 What is the maximum number of messages/folders that Thunderbird can handle? engunir 6/4/15, 4:38 PM Matt 6/4/15, 5:08 PM Chosen Solution None I am truly aware of, other than available disk space on the computer. The 4Gb (per folder) limit on local folders has been lifted, but I am not sure I trust the fix. SO think of 4Gb as a limit on folder size. I am unaware of any practical limit to the number of accounts. I have heard of hundreds and have dozens personally. I suppose the limit of the files system file size still applies, but as that is 16Tb in windows 7 and 256Tb in Windows 8 I don't think that is really a concern. (I have not heard of a single hard disk that size yet). With the mailDir optional structure for storing mail in Thunderbird 38 (one mail one file), then even that limit is moot, other than for the global index and folder indexes. Note that it is an option for "New" accounts, not imported ones, and it is not the default. Modified June 4, 2015 at 5:08:28 PM PDT by Matt +-----+ Yikes!! I didn't need an email sfor IJCNN? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Limits_-_Thunderbird E-mail addresses There appears to be a limit of approximately 60 addresses when sending messages if you enter each address separately. However, if you use lists (mail distribution lists) for most of the addresses any limit is imposed by whatever SMTP server you use. You can receive messages sent to multiple addresses in the same mailbox. Any limitations would be due to your e-mail provider. 08********08 19Jan2021 Thunderbird email STILL doesn't work no security exception notices Thunderbird menu -> Edit -> Preferences -> Bill Howell main account -> Server settings -> Security settings Connection security : SSL/TLS (wasn't this STARTTLS? - NYET '181106 Bill - new recover email account setup.png' POP3 SSL/TLS, SMTP STARTTLS Authentication method : Normal password also - different screens, POP3 port 995, SMTP port 587 SENDING emails does work, it just cann'receive them. 08********08 13Jan2021 Thunderbird email doesn't work It may have been an unreported security exception for ?mail.billhowell.ca?, which showed up after an hour or two when I tried to resend. mail.billhowell.ca Very slow internet at this time. ******** 14Sep2020 Thunderbird server config problem Sending of the message failed. Through use of environment variables the agent can be located and automatically used for authentication when logging in to other machines using ssh(1). The agent initially does not have any private keys. Keys are added using ssh-add(1). Multiple identities may be stored in ssh-agent concurrently and ssh(1) will automatically use them if present. ssh-add(1) is also used to remove keys from ssh-agent and to query the keys that are held in one. The options are as follows: -a bind_address Bind the agent to the UNIX-domain socket bind_address. The default is $TMPDIR/ssh-XXXXXXXXXX/agent.. -c Generate C-shell commands on stdout. This is the default if SHELL looks like it's a csh style of shell. -d Debug mode. When this option is specified ssh-agent will not fork. -k Kill the current agent (given by the SSH_AGENT_PID environment variable). -P Specify a pattern-list of acceptable paths for PKCS#11 shared libraries that may be added using the -s option to ssh-add(1). The default is to allow loading PKCS#11 libraries from “/usr/lib/*,/usr/local/lib/*”. PKCS#11 libraries that do not match the whitelist will be refused. See PATTERNS in ssh_config(5) for a description of pattern-list syntax. -s Generate Bourne shell commands on stdout. This is the default if SHELL does not look like it's a csh style of shell. -t life Set a default value for the maximum lifetime of identities added to the agent. The lifetime may be specified in seconds or in a time format specified in sshd_config(5). A lifetime specified for an identity with ssh-add(1) overrides this value. Without this option the default maximum lifetime is forever. +---+ https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=231186 "Web Content" process running from Firefox Post by LamphunLumyai » Wed Oct 05, 2016 4:28 am Kernel: 3.13.0-37-generic x86_64 (64 bit) Desktop: Cinnamon 2.8.8 Distro: Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa Today I noticed a process called "Web Content" that was pegging the CPU cycles and making Firefox dog slow.
