On June 17, a 2250-ton coal liquefaction reactor was lifted up gradually by two tower cranes imported from Britain at the Shenhua Group's project site in Erdos, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The weight of the hoist sets a new record in the world.
The successful hoist of the reactor marks the beginning of the equipment installation of the Direct Coal to Liquid (CTL) project, and indicates that the construction has entered a peak period. It is Shenhua's key step toward the industrialization of coal to oil program.
The reactor, the heaviest of its kind in the world, made by China First Heavy Industries (CFHI), is a central device of the first production line in the first phase of the whole CTL project.
