Glenn, what about placing a flat sheet of paper on the turntable to elimintate as much as possible, the grooves (quantum wells:-) and then place the bb (with dye or paint to record the trajectory) and try to repeat the experiement? It would be interesting to try to quantify just how much rotational velocity is necessary to start the bb moving.
