1930 Jul 20  Irene born on farm ~15km North of Val Marie Saskatchewan 

1936  fall Irene starts 7 years at elementary school in HillandDale  community in SK,  walks, horserides, winter sled to school, 

1939 in Grade 3 mother Ruby & kids left for Silver Park where father Jacob (Jack - Norweigian) is working, family stayed 3 months, leave before report cards
Ruby & 5 kids move to Regina, Irene repeats grade 3 , grades 4 to 7 & part o f 8 
Ruby got job in Regina boarding house cooking for ~1 month
Ruby & 5 kids move back to HillandDale SK
Irene  moves to Swift Current does part of grade 8, and ?maybe 9>? at Elmwood junior high
Irene  does grades 9 to 10 at Swift Current Collegiate High School 
Irene moves to Calgary and went to Henderson Secretarial School on 8th Ave, to gain independence from welfare, partly funded by SK government
