It is a very well designed system, fool-proof even for me. I don't have fish, but need to regularly batch heat a barrel of water (~30 gallons?) a couple of times a week. For this application, I use a simple 110V timer in case I forget to shut it off, and the system heats the water to just above 40 Celsius in about 5-8 hours of batch heating, problem free. I'm very happy with it, and will see how it works over the years. Unlike me, don't be goofy, read the instructions! On the cover page it says: "... Reminder: The controller is waterproof, please make sure it stays dry. ..." As you might guess, I dropped the controller into the barrel, it got wet, and died. Duh! In spite of this, a few simple snips and reconnects of the power wires to by-pass the controller, void any warranty, and expose me to shock if I made a mistake. But it works just fine, and doesn't over-heat. With the timer, it's extra safe even if I don't need that. # enddoc
