The company was one of only eight to receive funding. Focused Energy's approach to fusion energy is based on the successful method developed at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where in December, it produced the first net energy gain from nuclear fusion. "We believe that Focused Energy is the leading inertial fusion company and the continued technical progress and support from the U.S. and German governments proves that this team is the most likely to commercialise laser-based fusion energy with economically competitive power plants," said Prime Movers Lab Founder and General Partner and Focused Energy Chairman Dakin Sloss. "I spend more time working with the Focused Energy team than any other company because I believe it has the greatest potential to transform billions of lives delivering on the promise of abundant sustainable energy." "Although the market environment has fundamentally changed over the past year, we have succeeded in acquiring substantial funding," says co-founder and CEO Thomas Forner. "We are also very pleased to be creating a splash on both sides of the Atlantic. After all, the world's increasing energy needs can only be solved globally." +-----+ https://focused-energy.world A fast ignition target is a carefully composed structure designed to enable robust compression of the fuel to high densities while enabling the creation of a 2nd laser-generated ion beam to trigger fusion reactions in the fuel. 08********08 #] 22Jan2023 emfrm Blair Bromely CNS: US bipartisan support for fusion energy program Fusion Industry Association https://www.fusionindustryassociation.org/about/members/ Collaborations that capitalize on the expertise of national labs & universities and ambitions of the private sector drive innovation. We’ve seen this most recently with the acceleration of the space propulsion industry, driven by the NASA COTS cost-share program– a program that the milestone-based fusion development program was modeled in part after. You can read more about the fusion program and recent award announcement here. And not only are public-private partnerships growing here in the US, but worldwide. Japan announced a national strategy for fusion energy in April, highlighting a push for public-private partnership growth. Also earlier this month, the European Commission held a workshop on strategizing public-private partnerships to foster a growing fusion industry. Germany recently published a memorandum on fusion, calling for close collaboration between government and industry to accelerate commercial efforts. At the FIA, we have recently grown to 38 member companies — with all different technologies, that's 38 shots on goal. And with increasing government support, that’s like taking the shots with extra teammates added.
